Our School was founded in 1972 under the name “4th Gymnasium of Limassol.” It was intended to serve the students of the Agios Nikolaos area and the surrounding regions.

During its first school year, 1972–73, it operated as a three‑grade gymnasium. A total of 568 students attended, divided into fifteen classes. Twenty‑eight teachers worked at the school for the first time.

After the events of 1974, the 4th Gymnasium of Limassol received 234 displaced students, who were added to the 1,016 students already enrolled. Due to the large number of students, during the 1976–77 school year the School was divided into two cycles, A and B, with alternating weekly morning and afternoon attendance. Cycle A operated as a six‑grade school and Cycle B as a three‑grade school.

In the 1979–80 school year, the institution of the Course Selection Lyceum (LEM) began operating. In the same year, the School abolished the A and B cycles and was divided into a Gymnasium and a Lyceum, both with permanent morning attendance.

In February 1987, the Ministry of Education, through an official letter, renamed the 4th Gymnasium of Limassol to Agios Nikolaos Lyceum. Also, in March 1987, Neapolis Gymnasium, which had been housed in the same building as the Lyceum, moved to its own premises.

In 1993–94, the large Multi‑Purpose Hall was built in the eastern courtyard of the School. Despite its shortcomings, it serves the School’s athletic and cultural activities. Today, 381 students attend Agios Nikolaos Lyceum, divided into 24 classes.

The School has 10 classrooms, two Physics laboratories, two Chemistry laboratories, two specialized Art rooms, two Language rooms, one History room, one Music room, two Computer rooms, two Technology rooms, two Typing rooms, one Biology room, one Home Economics room, one Multi‑Purpose Hall, and a Library with the appropriate equipment.
